Adoptions

At Canine Kindergarten, we work with local shelters and rescue groups to help promote their adoptable pets.  We encourage pet adoption as a great option when adding a new furry friend to your family!

At our Verplanck location, we also provide foster care at our facility along with training and adoption services to dogs in need of a home.  Dogs that are accepted into foster care are evaluated and follow the same interview process as our clients’ dogs.  We find that our foster dogs fit right in and provide wonderful playmates to our clients’ pets.  We are happy to provide these dogs with an enriching, comfortable environment while they await adoption. Often our foster dogs even find their new forever family with a client of Canine Kindergarten!

If you are interested in fostering or adopting, or finding out more about our rescue program, please call Lisa at 914-469-6605.

Reasons to adopt a pet

  • You will save a life.   A shelter pet is more than one in a million—she's one in 3-6  million.  That's the number of adoptable dogs and cats who are still euthanized each year in the United States, simply because too many pets come into shelters and too few people adopt.
  • The number of euthanized animals could be reduced dramatically if more people adopted pets instead of buying them.
  • When you adopt, you save your animal and open up shelter space for another animal who might need it.
  • We will work with you to find the perfect pet.  When you adopt from a shelter or rescue group, you have people who will work with you to find your perfect match.
